Small Business Matters is a free, community-driven business networking group that meets every Wednesday from 9:30 am to 11 am at the Karns Youth Center. Our focus is on building strong relationships through meaningful conversations. After introductions, members answer both a business and a personal question to help foster deeper connections. We also offer Small Business Matters Monday edition meetings twice a month, where business owners gather for roundtable discussions to tackle the challenges of running a business. No fees, no dues—everyone is welcome to join!

Every Wednesday from 9:30 am to 11 am, members gather to share introductions and participate in unique discussions that foster meaningful business relationships.


Each meeting includes two questions—one business-related and one personal—allowing members to connect on a deeper level beyond just business.

Monday Edition - Business Roundtable Discussions

On the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, members meet for Small Business Matters Monday edition, focusing on important issues facing business owners.

New - Business and the Word

Attention networkers, I have had several request to start a new networking group for business owners and professionals but that's faith based.

So, after much prayer and conversations with a few others, a new group will launch in January 2025.

This group will be able to openly discuss our faith and how we apply it to our businesses. Open to everyone. Stay tuned for more details.

We meet on the first Monday of every month, 9:30am at Rocky Top HVAC, 7327 Oak Ridge Hwy, Knoxville, TN and on the third Monday, 9:30am at The Casual Pint Northshore, 2045 Thunderhead Rd, Knoxville, TN.

Free Social Networking Events

Over the course of each month, we host various Free Social Networking Events.

This is a great a great opportunity to meet other like minded business people in a relaxed environment.

Current we have a standing event on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 5:30pm- 7:30pm at Kerns Food Hall.

With no restrictions or attendance policy, it’s proof that free networking is highly effective, allowing business owners to connect and grow without limitations. Currently, Small Business Matters is headed up by a committee of local business people and lead by John Geer and Jacob Miller.

Is there any costs or signup needed?

We meet every Wednesday from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Karns Youth Center.

Each meeting includes:

Open networking

Introductions from attendees

Two guided questions (one business-focused, one personal)

It’s structured enough to be productive, but relaxed enough to feel natural.

Can I promote my business at the meetings?

Absolutely — that’s part of the experience.
You’ll have opportunities to introduce your business, share what you do, and connect with people who may need your services.

Is this like a leads group or referral group?

Not exactly.
While referrals absolutely happen, Small Business Matters focuses first on relationships.
The belief is simple: strong relationships lead to better, more natural referrals.

Small Business Matters is organized by local business leaders who are passionate about helping other businesses grow, connect, and succeed in the community. The current leadership includes John Geer and Jacob Miller.

Where are you located?

We meet in person at the Karns Youth Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, and host additional events at various locations around the area.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

Bring:

- Business cards (if you have them)
